I've always had a love of food (who doesn't?), a desire to learn more about health, and a goal of making healthy food accessible to all. Recently, I started to think about where my food comes from. I'm thankful to have a wonderful farmer's market just blocks away, but a girl's got to have more than fruits & veggies to eat! Where was the rest of my food coming from? What impact does it have on the environment? Why am I eating foods that have been flown in from around the world when I could dine on delicious fixin's from less than 100 miles away? I believe that eating local foods can go hand in hand with my overall goal to eat a plant-based diet. However, it can be intimidating to cook beans from scratch, and who knows what to do with whole wheatberries?!
My idea is simple: I want to take local, naturally grown, healthy ingredients and make them more accessible to the everyday cook.
Thanks for joining me!
